> Don't fly behind an experimental primary flight display in actual IFR

BMG has flown... In the hardest of all airplanes, Lee's Sentry.. I'm
still watching the reliability of my CFS just as you watch the
reliability of your steam gauges or an owner of BMG would be watching
theirs. While CFS 4.0H is much more usable than 3.2K (Direct works on
any point in the flight plan!!) its terrain is x4 more detailed and
terrain decompression slows the display very noticeable. Bumpy IMC while
the system is slowed by terrain decompression is down right scary..
"know thy systems!"
the fully certified xbow "gyros" aren't perfect either... large
acceleration (take off or landing) will result in a tilt error. (fly
barring / track on low ceiling departures) The Kalman filters will level
the display once acceleration has decreased. "know thy systems!"
powered mags are even scarier.. one can remain in flight longer with a
total failure of BMG or CFS than the lost of FADEC.. yet there are some
real benefits from FADEC.. "know thy systems!"
the climb rate of my parachute is less than your anti gravity disk
doesn't make you safer... if your question is weather we pay more for the
freedom to innovate and weed the gene pool, than having a government gun
to our head to "protect" us, that is off topic for this list.
CFS v4.1 will be out soon with: (from kirk)
Smoother terrain decompression
log file time stamp updated every second
Analog Interface Unit support
Skywatch support
audio warnings updated with instant mute
better 429 and AP command steering
some display changes (MPH/Kts, waterline, trends, runways, pitch)
(wsi weather isn't in this release)
