Hi all,

I'm working on the the cowl for my L235 kit and had a couple
questions.

o  I'm planning on using piano hinges along the sides and was
wondering what folks have used to lock these hinge pins in place.
I've seen a couple planes where it appears that the hinge pins have
been welded (?) to some sort of threaded fastener at the front
of the cowl.  Can anyone describe what they did?  Has anyone run
these side cowl pins from inside the cockpit (some of the RV guys
do this)?

o  On my 235 kit, the inside of the cowl appears to be coated with
some sort of slightly tacky coating.  I've got some layups to do
inside the cowl and need to remove this.  I've tried a number of
solvents and found that acetone does a reasonable job of removing
this coating with sanding doing the rest (by gumming up the
sandpaper). For others with 235's:
  - what is this coating for?
  - is there something better than acetone to remove it?

Thanks!

Scott Richardson
