Let's look at an 800 statute mile comparison - Rotax: 160 mph @ 5.5 gph would take 5 hours and use 27.5 gallons (29 mpg) My Lancair: 220 mph @ 7.5 gph would take about 3.6 hours and use 27 gallons (29 mpg). I would save 1:20 and a $1.50 (gas at $3.00/gal) - enough for a cup of coffee while I waited for the Rotax.
