Epoxy curing (hardening) results from the reaction between the hardener and
the epoxy molecules. It requires the correct number of molecules of each
component. ANY appreciable surplus of one of the components will act as a
softener. Tensile properties and bonding will go SOUTH. Obviously, the
ratio can be off a small amount and still achieve spec or near spec
properties. I have made measurements of the Shell system and it is probably
more sensitive to ratio errors than the Jeffco?? If I remember correctly
+/- 3% gave fairly acceptable results.
If you desire best results, keep the ratio tight!!
