Frustrated with the lead weight approach to the ailerons (I tried pounding,
and I tried pouring lead) I bought some tungsten bars. It is 1.3 times the
density. After much travail, I potted them in place with micro, then sanded
to shape with a band file (1/2" power sanding belt tool). It still took a
lot of work, but it finally allowed the full book travel. I then glassed
over them in bands for security.

It may be simpler (and even cheaper if you figure your time) to get some
fast-built ailerons pre-built from the factory. They have a different
arrangement for the leading edge of the aileron and may have the weights
already in place. The only difficulty would be matching them to NEW hinges
in the wing. That should be a lot less work than the weights....Ted Noel
