In getting my bird ready for first flight, I went to put the canopy seal material on that I purchased from Lancair a couple years ago.  I glued it on with an automotive trim adhesive (don’t remember the name – got it from a custom van conversion shop).  The next morning I came out and the seal peeled off the canopy just like the backing off a sticker!!  I had cleaned the surface twice with acetone.  I wonder if it is a silicone base?  Any suggestions for making Lancair’s seal stick to the bird?

 

Also, Lancair’s seal material is too thick for my canopy-to-longeron (LNC2) seal as the channel I recessed into the canopy is not very deep.  I need a thinner seal material (crush down to 1/8” without too much force).  Any suggestions for places to buy a variety of seal materials?
