I have built 2 ES's without blisters and you don't need them.  They run fine without.  I did find that by putting two reverse nacca scoops next to the nose gear helps.  And if you need more cooling, take 2 washers and put in between the lower cowling screws at the fuselage and lower cowling.  Just by separating the two, it makes a world of difference on hot hot days.  I also tried on one ES inlets that were made by someone who makes cowling speed mods & plenum chambers for RV's who is located in FL.  This ES runs slightly cooler than the one with the Lancair original inlets.  I believe it's because the inlets are a bell mouth design and the lip going in is 2 1/2 inches which allows the air to straighten out before it goes into the cowling.
