I've also have a KFC 200 a/p in my TurboSaratoga which has given me virtually NO problems for the past 15 years. When I use it, 99.999% of the time it is in heading and alt hold mode. If the TruTrak can perform even as well as the KFC 200 and be half as reliable then I'd be very happy with it. Are you concerned about product support in the future if a celestial departure happens, and what plans are you making for that?
BTW, where are you located, and are you available for a demo?

We are coming form the same place, my KFC 200 was very reliable and after Loran came I always coupled it too that track but not the VOR (are they still around?). I was worried about the TruTrak performance also but after a few hours flying you realize that it is the most stable and reliable thing in the airplane. Before I really knew the SFS or the UPS stack I first got so comfortable with the AP that I think out of the 182 hrs on the airplane 80% or the time it is on AP.
Future concerns are always there. I was more concerned about Sierra Flight Systems and there purchase by Chelton. TruTrak has a younger partner but the real measurement is that they know NOT to pursue certification, which I think would break a small company like this. But who knows who may buy the company? Jim Y. has his heart and mine in the right place.
As too support. Jim has been right on top of all my questions and new mounting brackets, etc. One time I had the AP circuit breaker kept popping and he was all over it. Sent the box back in one day, gave me servo checks, and we couldn't find a thing wrong. It turned out that the Yaw servo wiring that was not installed had no protection on the cut wire ends and it touched the carbon fiber fuselage inside the tail and shorted out. I have kept the burn marks to show anyone who doesn't think carbon is conductive. So it turned out to not be the AP.
I'm in San Jose, CA. and flying to Sedona, AZ. Sunday for a while. Be happy to demo the system, or call me for more BS.
