Interesting...
My alternator "system" crapped out yesterday too.  Looks more like a
corroded contact where the heavy gague lead attached to the alternator.
Took it off to replace the fittings and broke the corroded stud off...

Now I have to figure out something else.  And I'm working towards a B&C
backup alternator.
