"You were looking at the EPS V8 then. Did you settle
on the Continental or the turbine?"
John,
I took the path of least resistance - bought the TSIO-550
(used). I learned about the engine on the LML via Rick Schrameck (sp?
sorry Rick if I mispelled). The fellow (Phil Roholt) I purchased it
from is planning to buy the supercharger from Rick and no longer had a
requirement for the TSIO-550. Phil had the engine gone through by Penn
Yan, so it should be in good shape. Thanks Phil if you happen to be
monitoring the list.
I still like the idea of the V8. I personally think
(remember guys - no flames please!) the V8 has excellent potential. Doug
gave us a ride in his during Sun-n-Fun 2002 and I was impressed. We
also took a trip to the Aiken, SC shop and were impressed by what we
saw. Al is a true gentleman and has forgotten more than I will ever know
about engines. I guess I'm easily impressed. <grin> I also believe
that the gearbox problems have been addresed. It is just a shame that the
Duke incident quenched all of the progress that was made. If and when I
build my second IV-P, the V8 would be a strong contender.
I'm looking forward to completing the IV-P so Janie & I
can take some trips to a long list of places we have picked out. Sounds
like from the others on the list that the A/C will be a nice option - whichever
one they choose. My choice was the Aero Cool because of it not being
visible. My only concern now will be the weight and balance.
Regards,
Ed Smith
