[below is a response to a question I asked John about the use of a
NicoPress crimper for installing terminal connectors onto the ends of
that fat #2 (or larger) cable we have to use for wiring up our batteries
and starters....]
I really don't feel very confident about crimps done on a NicoPress for
battery cable. Reason being that the function of what is being crimped. I
think you are referencing the press used for hyd. hose or possibily the one
used on control cables. Crimp is not meant for battery cable.
The best crimp on a battery lug is square/diamond shape when done
correctly...next is hex shape and then a hammer slot type ( which I really
don't care for...but as they say about ports and storms)
I have been in a bit of a quandary about how to help you folks with battery
cable crimps. The problem. as I see it, is that good battery crimpers are
very costly...in the $200 bracket...and your number usages would be limited.
We are thinking through the process of providing tool rental??? Also I am
planning on writting a "how to" on the subject over the next week if you can
hang on.

[Well, there you have it, guys... 10% off of already excellent pricing
on high quality products you would be well off to use in your project.
If AAMR's customer service is 1/2 as prompt as John's ability to
follow up on his email, I would venture to say that you won't be
