Never a slow failure.
You are right, I also had to adjust the regulator and I also do not remember which way I made the adjustment although usually, righty-tighty so I probably lefty-loosey. Also, on my requlator, the adjustment is held in place by bendable tabs which you must bend up to rotate and then bend the appropriate two tabs to capture the setting.
