Hello Bill.
I have gathered my guts and ground out the old block.
- I love angle grinders combined with composites, donīt we all???
2 minutes of grinding, 10 minutes showering and back to install a new block.
I floxed it in and added 6 BID over the lot. I thought that would take care
of it, but after seeing a photo of a delaminated tunnel, I think Iīll add
some unidirectional strips over the aft end of the block and down the sides
and aft face of the gear well. I still need to turn the brackets 180 deg. in
order to keep them from "riding" on the aft rounding. I canīt imagine that
they will break although the obviously turn wrong this way? I have also
learned that the cylinder should bottom out
when the drag link locks over center. In order to make it bottom out the
other way, so the wheel brace doesnīt bang the top of the tunnel, Iīve been
told to slide a piece of stainless tubing over the cylinder rod and, if
necessary, adjust with washers. Sounds to me like a good approach.
I still wonder, though, if the factory claim, that a 320 can be built in
less than 1000 hrs. includes redoing the "fast build" jobs?
I am happy to hear that you got permission to cross Greenland and Faeroes. I
Think I will be going to Kemble allthough itīs a long trip VFR in a
Cherokee. I am not sure I will have my English radio certificate by then,
but I will probably get along without it. I would be very happy to drool on
your plane!!!
