Jeffrey W. Skiba asks:
"Does anyone have pictures of the Legacy rudder in
Netural position
full right
full left..."
Jeff, here are some pics of what I came up with on my Legacy. My goal was
minimum sized holes that were just large enough to allow
removal/installation of the rudder with standard tools that any A&P should
have. I also wanted to be able to see the torque seal paint marks on the
heads of all hinge base attach bolts during preflight.
With the rudder full left I have about a 1/2 inch by 2 inch slot opening.
That amount of space allows one "click" of movement on an unmodified
ratcheting box end wrench. Inserting the bolt and tighten the nut is fairly
easy but it does take quite a long time. With the rudder in the neutral
position all cutouts are hidden except for part of the top one and a small
notch on the lower right side that was necessary for push tube clearance.
Please note on the pics that the 3 green lines drawn lengthwise on the
rudder leading edge represent the location of the VS trailing edge at full
left, full right and neutral positions.
