this post late. I'd do the backwards spool valve test. Raise the
gear on jacks and reverse the switch at 80% gear up. If
pump does not immediately (less than 5 seconds of silence) reverse and down the
gear your spool valve is probably in backwards. It's a minor headache to
reverse.
Reversing mine removed a little quirkiness including an occasional
inability to raise the gear. I have no pressure gauges to confirm that it
allowed the bleed off. (Too heavy-costs kts you see). But, there is a hole
in the spool valve and I have some recollection that that hole is where the
pressure bleeds to atmospheric on the unpressurized side.
