I had a similar problem with my B&C starter. The starter would not run when I would try a hot start, but it would always work fine after cooling off. It turned out to be a problem with the starter solenoid -- the one on the starter itself. I'm not sure about the Sky-Tec, but the B&C starter has a solenoid which has a steel plunger. My plunger had a sharp raised edge at one end -- basically a large burr all around the circumference. When hot, clearances are tighter and the plunger would hang up. I rounded off this edge, and I haven't had a problem with hot starts since.
