I attribute it to a very slight leakage through the gear dump valve from the gear up pressure to the down side, and just enough to push open the gear down pressure switch. Doesn't happen all the time, maybe more often on a long flight. When I put the landing gear switch down I will occasionally, but not always, get a short blip on the transition light, then nothing. I crack the gear dump valve just a skoshi, the motor starts running, close the dump valve and the gear come down. I could change the dump valve but it just has not seemed worth the trouble. I have a feeling that this problem is what led to the wheels up landing that our compatriot, Lorn "Feathers" Olson experienced. He put the switch down but nuthin happened. The secret is to be aware, listen for the hydraulic motor, watch for the transition light then the three greens. Another solution would be to fix the thing so it won't happen. But little things can keep it interesting and keep one alert. George Shattuck N320GS
