Get rid of the plastic lines in any event. 

After having the Tygon lines stepped on, abused, etc. during the later stages of building, I replaced all of them with Teflon/steel braid lines.

It is facinating that your airplane was built with such a complex system and still used Tygon tubing and included sight gauges.

PS Q-Tip: Luckily, I just fill the wings, turn on the automatic header tank filler system and fly.  No timing, switching tanks, etc. I Land after 3 to 3.75 hours and repeat from the beginning.  If the wrong red light comes on, say "Uh Oh!" and look for a place to land within 1 hour or 180 NMs, whichever comes first.  Other lights (or lack thereof) can cause a higher pitched "Uh Oh".
