The aircraft was one of the finest examples of its type in Australia powered by the Walter turboprop. It was also fully fitted with glass cockpit. The two men that were killed were extremely experienced men. The pilot was a Naval officer of 42 years who also has been the CO of Naval air base at Nowra. It is not known what caused the crash but it is believed the aircraft was on a test flight.
