The tubes are almost always in like-new condition, as opposed to the tires. They're about 1/16" thick and have just the right flexibility. 2) Use scissors to cut out a piece large enough to cover the penetration area, with about 1/2" excess for gluing all around. 3) Cut an adequately sized "X" (or similar scheme) in the piece, so as to permit the pushrod (or bracket) to penetrate and just accommodate the range of movement. 4) With the pushrod (or bracket) removed, glue the penetration cover in place and allow the glue to fully cure. This can be on either side (or both sides) of the bulkhead, as the location permits. 5) Reinstall the pushrod (or bracket) and check for adequacy of seal. Obviously this will not be a perfect seal, but will function well, depending on how well it was thought-out, cut, etc. I also used this method to successfully seal a pressurization leak at the door hinge penetration on Dennis Pratt's IV-P.
