I have been flying with the VM1000 system for 2years and in general am very
happy with the system. Can see it in all lighting situations (a bit too
bright at night--wish there was a dimmer rheostat for the background
lighting of the head). My only gripe is that the factory set the "overamp"
alarm set off above 65 amps. With my 12 volt system and all the panel
goodies working, I routinely exceed the 65 amps for a few seconds upon
retracting the gear due to the hydaulic pump draw--not too comforting having
the alarm go off just after every takeoff. The factory says that "that's
the way we've set it, and its not worth changing". I had to replace the
original head which was bad during the initial flight testing, but have
flown another 240 hrs since without problem with that. Only other gripe was
a disconnected solder wire on the amp sensor at about 150hrs. Fuel
computer is fairly accurate (+/- 10%, but at low fuel levels routinely
underestimates the fuel available by about 3-4 gallons)Doug Johnson N654DM
