I strongly agree. This issue has caused me to be more selective on the
issues I respond to, and to be careful about what I say to avoid
becoming a target. Although it has not completely stopped me, I can
sympathize with those who have stopped posting. Probably more
importantly for me, it has also made me more selective of who's posts I
even bother to open. Usually the worst offenders are also repeat
offenders. I manage my incoming LML e-mail with that in mind.

I certainly would get more out of the list if we had less of the flaming
and more of the constructive information. So... Maybe the thing to do is
publicly recognize some of the people that I look forward to reading
what they have posted. I might add, a few of the people I name below
don't seem to post as much, or even at all now a days.

Valin & Allyson Thorn, Tim Ong, Jim Nordin, Scott Krueger, Jim Scales,
Dan Newland, Ron Galbraith, Brent Regan, Charles Kohler, Jim Cameron,
Mike Salzman, Jim Frantz... have been good constructive contributors.
For example, Valin very recently posted information about good solutions
that he and Allyson had come up with regarding canopy locks, and canopy
hinge tests, and a few other items. They shared pictures, part numbers,
and brief written instruction. Further group discussions helped make
some adjustments to some of the details. Valin then posted updated
information. I would LOVE to see more of this.

There are many more list members that could be mentioned, but these are
some of the ones that are on my mental "must read" list. They are also
among the ones that make me want to remain on LML, despite the hostile
comments that some others post. I suspect that there are also many
others that I don't have the opportunity to name because they are
reluctant to post, but are a wealth of information. I hope they will
start or resume posting as a result of this discussion.

We may not be able to do away with the flames and otherwise
non-constructive posts, but the rest of us can make sure we post the
kind of information most of us are looking for (i.e. boost the signal
over the noise).
