First, thanks to everyone who responded on my inquiry about "white foam". I
am a lot wiser as a result.
Now I would like to get opinions about intercom options. I plan to install
a Garmin 430, a secondary radio, and a CD player among others, and need to
select an intercom system. The cheapest and simplest option seems to be a
basic intercom, such as the PM 1000. However I then wonder:
1. Can you satisfactorily switch between audio inputs, maybe by using
separate switches in the input leads?
2. What do you do about a marker beacon receiver?
3. Do the voice switched intercoms work satisfactorily? I have had very
limited exposure to them, but initially found them intrusive and awkward. I
am thinking of a basic hot/cold mic switch. What is your experience?
Otherwise I can spend considerably more and get an audio panel with marker
beacon built in. Are they worth the extra?
