I found that the original factory system works great for the canopy.  To
make it work with zero problems I did the following.  1. stiffened the
firewall attach area so that the firewall does not flex.  2.  Mount the
attach bracket for the gas strut about ½? aft of the firewall.  3.  I added
2 washes under the hinge bracket that mounts to the canopy. ( The washers
were under the rear bolts, not the front bolts).

This resulted in no flex of the canopy and the canopy mated flush with the
fuselage.
