I've flown out of a 2300' grass field near sea level with no problem when
it's dry.  When it's wet, that length is OK on landing, but very marginal on
take off and only doable with the weight down near 2700#.  The other problem
is that you can't run up any where near full power before releasing the
brakes because the plane will just slide on the locked wheels.  The gear is
very stout and outside of hitting a good sized rock, you should have no
trouble with the nose gear.  I've also flown out of many dirt strips in
Mexico and Central America with no problems.  Use full up elevator until you
get rolling about 40 kts. to save the prop and ease the load on the nose
gear.
