This is just me, but I try to approach the runway and approximately 500 fpm, most of the time. 2,000 fpm is a bit scary. The most I've seen was 1,500 fpm decent during engine out practice with my instructor. As an aside, I landed at Andover Airport yesterday and set MY shortest runway landing, 1,950 feet. I dragged the plane in using power and THUMPED it on the numbers (or close to it).
