Australian Navajo Accident reported by Hamid

Hi

   Why would you want to extend the landing gear for a water landing
even with the landing lights on the nose gear I would keep the wheels
up.  The hazards with the wheels down are too extreme to consider unless
that is your only option (Cessna 182).

   This accident is too bizarre and the report too strange to spend much
time with it.  I have serious doubts about the accuracy of the report.
I spent several years in Experimental Flight Test at Piper (Lock Haven)
and flew many thousands of hours LOP with no problems.  I would suspect
some involvement with the young pilot.
