I think your proposed method would adequately bond the bash plates in place.
I'm not a chemist, so this is an unqualified opinion, but I'd use Hysol
instead of epoxy. Based on my personal experience/observations, the Hysol
remains a bit more flexible than epoxy, and therefore better accommodates
the different rates of expansion between the composite and metal parts.
Would like to hear from someone that can provide a good technical
assessment/validate this...if it's in fact true.

Understand that you obtained shot bags locally and no longer need ours. Good
decision to go for them--they work better than all the "cheaper"
alternatives we tried. Still welcome to come visit when your schedule
allows.
