I did something yesterday that I've been meaning to do for a long time. I
painted a single coat of Jeffco fuel tank sealer to the cockpit floor and
rudder pedal subfloors in my 360.
I had been noticing small drips and seepage from my hydraulic system, some of
which made it to the floor. (FYI, I'm not flying yet, my hydraulic system
was complete and intact a few years ago, but was replumbed to relocate my
pump and has not been made operational again, so there are probably some
finger-tight fittings, definitely some partially filled lines, yada yada yada)
The stains on the floor cleaned up just fine with MC. After cleaning the
ehtire floor, I painted a single coat of Jeffco fuel tank sealer as splash
protection. We all know that two coats are required to contain liquid, but
the occasional spill should wipe up without soaking through a single coat.
I think it's worth the weight.
