Marv,
No comments on the heating question, but have spoken with Gordon Pratt re: positioning the AHRS.  He suggests the area behind the wheel well (obviously non pressurized)  He made no  comments about the pressure aspects.  Tony Durizzi had his on the cockpit floor in front of the spar box as I recall and he thought it worked fine.  My first choice was on  top of the nose wheel housing, but Gordon suggested I might get interference there.  He also says that centerline mounting should be followed, but that anything  within the lateral confines of the fuselage is fine in this respect.  mounting in line with the longitudinal axis vertically and horizontally is very important.
 
 
Gordon recommends mounting the AHRS temporarily at any rate and being prepared to alter its  position if needed after trial flights.
