Hi folks,
.
.
.
Any suggestions on which airport to land since 4SD will be virtually closed to most GA aircraft?  Any and all suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks in advance.
Rick Argente

Rick,

I purchased my plane in Carson City. I had to get back and forth to Reno 4 times. I just took an airport limo. It cost less than $20.00 and took about 20 minutes. There is not much to see there but there is gambling and a lot of room.

When I flew back, I bought WAC charts. The highest mountains were about 16,000 ft., so I went up to 17,500. The temperature on the ground was over 100 degrees. At 17,500 ft. it was still 50 degrees. My little O-320 still gave me 180 kts. My first stop was Peublo, CO. All of the mountains were behind me by that time.

I thought that the biggest thing to watch out for were the MOAs. I think that about 50% of that region of the US is military operating area.
