Mike, when you're measuring glide performance, pull the prop all the way
aft. This will improve your glide considerably as well as stop the
backfiring. With the 2 blade MT on our 320, I see about 1200 rpm at 105k
with the prop control full aft and engine at idle. I have measured the glide
at 17/1. Much better than any spam can. Of course once you push the prop in
and/or start dirtying it up, she'll drop like a brick.
