FYI gang, I recently rebuilt my Sticky Stuff Dispenser. What I thought was
going to be a 2 hr project one Saturday morning turned into twice that
spanning a week. I replaced the intake valve with the new SS check/ball
assembly (to apparently remedy the discoloration problem), the 2 teflon
o-rings (aka piston rings for hardener and resin) and the gaskets under
their respective tanks. I also ended up replacing the hardener piston and
output tube (my second order) as the hardener had "crystallized" and
basically shellacked (sp?) and pitted these parts the years of inactivity
rendering them unusable. I spent $92 on this rebuild effort, but it was
worth it as I now have a smooth pumpin' machine generating an
beautifully-colored epoxy blend within mixing specs. The folks at Michael
Engineering were helpful and supportive, even answering a 911 call one
Saturday morning when the hardener piston, complete with new o-ring,
wouldn't easily move in the bore... Note that I use the pump primarily for
quickly mixing large batches for big lay-ups. I resort to the weight scale
method for the small batches as this may be more accurate. There has been
much discussion about this on the LML, so I'll refrain from beating that
poor horse again ...
See ya at SNF!
