The major importer, builder, repairer, seller of this jet (L-39) is my friend John Morgan at Greater Rockford Airport here (RFD).  He goes by the name of Pride Aircraft.

He has imported over 50 L-39 from Russia.  They come in pretty much dismantled in containers, and his crew does the rest.  They are really pretty after the new paint job.

I agree with your figures.  $89 K will buy a lot of Jet Fuel.

I also agree with buying one of them instead of a Lancair, because if we think we have insurance problems now, wait until the first one or two jet-mod LIV's crash.

I like speed, but I am not sure that it is worth another 200K to knock 10 minutes off a 400 mile Lancair trip.

But, I could be wrong...
