The setup I use includes a precision absolute pressure gage and a thermocouple to measure temperature. I locate the thermocouple inside the leading edge close to the forward spar. I pressurize the tank to 50mm (about 1 psi) over atmosphere and use a soap solution to check all the openings. Then, using a temperature correction, read the pressure over time, usually overnight. To tape over the fuel gage and filler openings I use aluminum-backed tape that seems to be non-porous. Both tanks behave similarly. Converting the pressure measurements to volume I get 15 to 30 cu. in. per hour leakage. So far I haven't started to search out leaks. Any ideas? Would this considered to be normal?
