I took a bird strike at 18,000' just north of Dallas in 1965 while
flying a Viscount for CAL.  We were indicating 280kts, and bam,
started shaking like h**l!  CAVU but we never did see it.  It had to
go right through the 3 & 4 prop arcs because it hit on the right
horizontal stab and completely destroyed the leading edge anti-icing
duct.  It was ripped wide open and feathers everwhere.  Scary!
