I hit a goose after rotation and that bugger looked like an elephant coming at me! I couldn't put it back down on the remaining runway and did a quick circuit. Found that the prop had some paint scratches on the back side and the runway had 7 pieces of dead goose. yum yum. You can be sure that I do a goose scan as I'm taxing/taking the active because they can be hard to spot. Another guy I know was flying a Commander and he hit a hawk about 2000AGL.
