Dave, it is, but if you wish to be able to travel somewhere without mid-air refueling, do it in the Lancair IV-P Eagle 540 variant. This is a water-cooled V-8 of 540 cid with 500 hp. It burns a lot less fuel than a turbine, and can be turned down to match ordinary L-IV-P's while burning a bit less fuel than them as well.
