It was interesting to see that Lancair does not
recommend a solvent wash after sanding. While I
agree with this, consider that the sandpaper may
be contaminated from the manufacturing process. I
wear cotton gloves and finish up with a piece of
well used paper on the theory that most of the
contamination has been transferred to the early
cuttings (dust particles).
While 40-80 grit may be acceptable for the thick
edge of molded parts it is way too coarse for
midpart attachments where there may be only 2
plies between you and the core material. I
suggest something in the 180-220 range.
