Ted,
Get out your Harbor Frieght catalog.  Find the Cambell Housfield compressor
that is the largest 110v unit in there.  Buy it.  It will arrive by common
carrier in less than a week.  Mine is converted to 220v by a simple re-wire
as shown in the electrical box on the unit as I now have 220 in my garage.
The compressor runs just the same but it may be more efficient and start a
bit better.
Take that the old Sears unit (yes, I had one too!), remove the compressor
and give it the old toss in the trash.  Use that tank as an extra 30 gal air
supply by interconnecting the two tanks with a short coil hose and a shutoff
valve on each end or as required by the fittings you use.
You now have a nice air system with 60 gal capacity.  It will keep up with
drill motors but not a random orbit sander.  The planer sander from HF is a
handy tool also.  It'll knock off a lot of micro in a hurry.  I put duct
tape on the back of each sand paper strip to avoid tearing at the ends.
My compressor and extra tank fit under the dry table/cloth rack.  It might
be good to put in a better drain valve on your old Sears tank with a line
from both drains to avoid having to move the dry table when draining the
supply tanks.
Good luck,
Walter Dodson  LNC4P... Top went on yesterday with Hal Woodruff's kind help.
