I tore my compressor down this morning and found a broken
rod.  Once I got the compressor apart, it was evident a screw
came loose on the top half of the piston (sandwich design which
facilitates compression ring access).  I have the parts to repair it
ordered and will move this compressor into a low use environment
when repaired.

The reason for the follow up, this is a very cheap design on the
belt less/ oil less systems.  If I had seen the inner workings of
this compressor before purchase, it would have never bought it.
The "cylinder" is a sleeve that looks like a cut off soup can.  The
"piston" has no skirt and can easily cock in the flimsy cylinder.
And we have no oil lubricant to support reasonable life of the unit.
I hope my poor decision on a shop air compressor will help
someone else that is contemplating the purchase now or in the
future.  This style is most aggravating with high noise levels and is
not very reliable.

I would still like to hear of any "quiet", quality compressors anyone
has had experience with.

Regards,
Tom Sullivan
