Given that there is (or may be) some sort of mold release on the surface, I recommend one adds a cleaning step before sanding or it's possible to grind the release agent into the pores of the bond area during sanding, making it much harder to remove. So it's a good idea to FIRST clean, sand and then clean again. I used this method on my 235 (early) and prior to any parts bonding, used trimmings from the skins (on early LNC2's we did a lot of trimming of excess materials adjacent to bond-lines) to make several test coupons for pull (shear) testing. All tests resulted in the parent material failing before a bond failure.
