RE. "I can't believe that builders are still using Acetone to clean before
bonding!"
Interesting comments you read on the LML. Very educational however it does
make me wonder; I just finished a builders asssist session at Lancair and
the only thing we used to clean was 'acetone'. Not a drop of MC in
sight... Are we liklly to have problems because of using only acetone? We
look at these guys as experts and of course they have a very big intrest in
being sure of the structural integrity of the aircraft so I have to believe
they wouldn't use acetone if they had any doubts at all of it as a cleaning
agent..
I'd like to see a reminder to post the particular type in the subject line.
i.e.
"Posts which are specific to a particular Lancair model should include the
FAA designator in the subject, LNC2 for the two-seaters, LNCE for Lancair
ES, and LNC4 for the IV and IV-P. Posts which are not model specific that
cover topics which are applicable to all models should not include a model
designator... this includes but is not limited to subjects such as paint and
finishing, avionics, instruments, electrical systems, general composite
assembly, inspections, test flying, aeronautics, etc. " It is really
helpful when reading to know which aircraft is being talked about.
Thanks again for all the information being shared......
