I just got off the phone with my homeowners (State Farm) insurance agent.
Since I live in California, and most insurance depends on state laws, these
comments only apply here. I am not sure if other insurance companies may
have different policies.

My homeowners policy specifically does NOT cover airplane parts. My policy
reads as follows: "COVERAGE B - PERSONAL PROPERTY; 2. PROPERTY NOT COVERED;
e. aircraft and parts". Therefore it would do no good to increase "personal
property" and since parts are excluded from coverage it is not possible to
have a "declared value rider".

Thanks for the information, as it gave me hope that maybe something had
changed. It seems ludicrous to pay 50% more for my airplane parts than my
total homeowners premium.

Brent, you said in an earlier post (3/6) that you had simply written to your
insurance agent and that they were covered. May I ask what company you were
with, since I know you were in California at that time.

Thanks,
