For you engine experts who have been there done that.

I have a chance to buy a...

Runout Lycoming E2D ...  through it's 2nd overhaul
Dynafocal mount type
Slick mags and new wires  ... used 50 hours
Alternator
Starter .. not light weight
Carburetor for 160 HP
4 Yellow tagged cylinders included for future overhaul
Hollow crank
No baffling

Needs a major overhaul and was removed in running condition.
Is this an appropriate engine for the Lancair 320?
Will it fit into the standard cowling, or what needs to be modified?
I'll use the extended engine mount and buy into the need to extend
the cowling 3 inches.
Are there any problems seen/heard about the E2D?
Is $7,800 a ball park price for such an engine?

Thanks in advance ...
