HI Gary,

I remember reading about the Mobil 1 Pure Synthetic oil problem that was the
subject of several replaced engines and resulted in Mobil taking the product
off the market. What I remember is that a Pure Synthetic will not accommodate
Lead so it doesn't like 100LL. It would plug up the small oil passages. I'm
sure if you run LOP like George does that not much Lead by product would get
past the rings, and may not show up as soon. The same oil works well in cars
running NO Lead fuel.
The Aeroshells 15w 50 and others are Semi Synthetic and they work well with
100LL. I'm not aware of any Pure Synthetic being sold to the Aviation market
now. Still change your oil at recommended intervals.
