'Feathers' Olsen, DynaComm, Corp. > I really like the SFS unit. It's a well designed and well engineered unit and it has the inside track on the future course of avionics. I also think the SFS unit is a great choice for a $400K+ aircraft that may be frequently used in IFR conditions. If I could afford either one I would probably have no interest in alternatives. I don't plan to fly my Legacy in IFR conditions. I don't think plastic airplanes and lighting play well together. I also don't think I'm pilot enough to handle such a high performance aircraft in minimum weather conditions. To me it's for fun. It's a sports car, not a sedan. I could equip it with traditional primary flight instruments AND an inexpensive (I mean LESS expensive) EFIS system that includes engine gauges, autopilot, gps, moving map, flight director and a lot of other cool stuff for about 1/4 the price of the SFS unit. I could have a lot of fun experimenting (playing) with the EFIS unit and still have the primaries to rely on even if it did fail. These are still called experimental aircraft, aren't they? I think a less expensive unit might be a better choice for my needs.
