Hal,
I didn't intend to promote my lights on the list but to respond to you and
all others who asked, here's the answers to your questions.
1. Do they operate off of a 12v system?
The HID lights are available in 14 or 28v.
2. What the size and weight?
The PAR46 (same size as a GE Q4509) reflector, emitter, and secondary
ballast is 4.25 inches in diameter and requires a depth clearance of 4
inches. The remote primary ballast is 3 x 5 x 1.25 inches. The PAR46 system
weighs 2 pounds and the larger 6 inch diameter PAR36 weighs 2.5 pounds.
3. Do they bolt in having their own fixtures and enclosures or do we need to
fabricate our own?
The builder must fabricate his own holder for the reflector but any aircraft
light mounting ring will work.
4. What's the amperage?
3 Amps
5. Does the $550 buy a pair or a single lamp?
$550 includes the reflector, emitter, and both ballasts. A dual installation
would cost $1,100.
6. Do you have pictures/web site with information?
No. I will email pictures to all who request them.
7. What's the dispersion pattern?
My reflector is adjustable from spot to flood.
On Glasairs/Glastars the landing lights mount on the engine cowling. I don't
know much about Lancairs (except we're faster <GG>) but is seems that most
of you are putting your lights in the wing. Some have asked for a
rectangular reflector and I can do that. But I need more information as to
what size of reflector would suit the greatest number of Lancair builders.
