I agree with most of that.
However, what I find is the MOST EFFECTIVE way to increase O2 sat is to
consciously breathe - - not more rapidly, but breathe deeper, using your
diaphragm.
I have a natural resting respiration rate that is very low (about 9 or 10
per minute). In the airplane, if I consciously breath with my diaphragm
with deep slow breaths, I can raise my O2 sat to a comfortable level at
15,000', without using supplemental O2. But you do have to concentrate.
However, if you do concentrate on this for several hours on several flights,
it starts to become a habit.
