I could not get my Outback gear to fit at all without fouling the door
slightly.  A tip that I picked up from Hollis Helms is to swap the gear
over - put the left gear on the right side, and vice versa.  Because of the
curvature of the upper surface of the wing, it fits much better.  I now have
adequate clearance to allow for adjustments.  The only slight snag is that
you have to remove the outboard gear door to get at the wheel/tire, but that
is easy to do.
